The sound of breathing. A person lying in a pool of blood. Two headed green bear looking at a clown princess painting. Sounds like a nightmare but was a true horror story for the IB Visual Arts Students this year.

Titled: The Seven of Hearts, the IB Visual Arts diploma exhibition at the school auditorium was close to turning the art for art’s sake slogan into reality. When building the show there was no guarantee we could open the doors at all. On the opening evening 8th of April there were only the seven art students, teacher and a computer streaming the opening performance to the distant audience.

When the school lockdown finally was lifted there was a hurry to put a few posters at the lobby for the live audience to find the art. Added irony was that the pre-bookded auditorium events that forced us to have the short duration for the show in the first place, were cancelled too but no one informed us in time, so we took down the exhibion only 3 days after the audience was allowed in.

Luckily there were a few dozen people to see what the new generation had to show and tell about living an artificial life, dealing with mental health issues, seeing the patterns of the city, practicing mindfullness, showing what pop art is today or how a lockdown can not lock down the spirit of an artist.

Teatteri-ilmaisua kuvataiteesta

Samoihin aikoihin, kun IB-taidenäyttely oli esillä auditoriossa, palasivat teatteri-ilmaisun kurssin (VIES32) opiskelijat takaisin lähiopetukseen. Eräänä iltapäivänä teatteriporukka lähti yhdessä katsomaan taidenäyttelyä. Ideana oli hyödyntää kuvia ja ympäristöä erilaisten hahmojen luomisessa. Improvisaatioiden pohjalta syntyi taidesnobeja, näyttelysalissa kirmaavia pikkulapsia, ahdasmielisiä taiteenvihaajia ja monia muita hauskoja tyyppejä.

Myös rehtori eksyi paikalle samaan aikaan teatteri-ilmaisun ryhmän kanssa. Saimme houkuteltua myös hänet improamaan oman hahmonsa. Lahjakkuus, selvästikin. Entinen teatterikerholainen, kuulemma!

Tilun opiskelijamäärä ja laaja kurssitarjotin mahdollistavat tällaiset hauskat kohtaamiset eri kurssien risteyskohdissa. Samalla syntyy uutta ilmaisua ja hauskoja kokemuksia. Eläköön taiteidenvälinen yhteistyö!
